Columnist and Neoconservative Marc Thiessen Wants the U.S. to Support Dictatorships Worldwide By David Starr The right-wing seems to be getting more, bold about supporting insane policies. Washington Post columnist and FOX contributor Marc Thiessen is one of these insane individuals. Thiessen is a neoconservative and was a speech writer for the George W. Bush Jr. regime. He can be called several other things: ultranationalist, imperialist, right-winger, fascistic, etc. In early July, Thiessen made outrageous, and typical, statements in an interview that was shown on Fox “News.” (Originating from an edition of The Story .) Michael Luciano, wiring in Mediaite , quoted Thiessen on U.S. support for Saudi Arabia and also supporting other U.S.-backed dictatorships: “The hardest that we have to do in the U.S. foreign policy–broadly–is balance U.S. interests and our concern...

Picking a Criminal: Joe Biden Nominates Elliott Abrams to an Advisory Position By David Starr In a shocking move , Joe Biden nominated a neoconservative to serve on the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy in early July. The neoconservative is Elliott Abrams, who has a history of criminal behavior as a public servant, and can accurately be called a fascist. Why? Abrams supported and kept hidden the atrocities committed by militaries, death squads and tyrants in Central America. Abrams served under the Reagan regime in the 1980s, a decade when Central America was a hot-button issue. He was named Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs and went on, in Jeet Heer’s words, writing in The Nation , to perform his ‘main job’ which was “whitewashing war crimes by American allies.” Given this terrible decision by Biden, one could wonder whether the president is really up for the job he ...

Hardcore Supporters of Israel Ignore its Apartheid Policies Against Palestinians By David Starr Israel celebrated its 75 th year of “independence” in April 2023 with a too-good-too-be-true praising of its existence. But, obviously, hardcore Israeli supporters are in denial when it comes to Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians. Miko Peled is an activist who was born and raised in Jerusalem. He came from a family of Zionists and thus was exposed to all the propaganda that is used to describe Israel: the sacred homeland of the Jews, its religious totalitarianism giving it the “right” to take more Palestinian land, and harboring the supremacy myth of the “Chosen People.” (What about other people and their respective civilizations?) Peled is now an Israeli-American and has been vocal about Israel and its role in reference to Palestinians. Not mincing words, he condemns Israel’s oppression of Palestinians with its apartheid policies. Peled’s f...

NATO Has Got to Go By David Starr The United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have continued to ignore the chance for immediate negotiations to stop the Russian–Ukraine war. Thus, they ignore a chance for peace. The U.S./NATO alliance continues to push for a military solution to the war. In mid-to-late June 2023, the alliance put on a show of strength with a new round of war games. Germany invited the U.S. and other nations of the alliance to simulate an air war over most of Europe. John Wojcik, Editor-in-Chief of the People’s World, wrote that it was “the biggest war provocation in history in its airspace…” Wojcik added that it involved “10,000 armed participants from 25 countries.” The U.S. sent “2,000 Air National Guard members and more than 100 of the 250 jet fighters that [participated].” The alliance also used ships to “close in on European coastlines in their massive simulation of what they...

A Flat-Earther? GOPer from Georgia Regresses Back to the Medieval Era By David Starr While this is a silly thing to write about, it does show how low the Republicans have lowered the intellectual bar to where it’s almost touching the ground. There is a Republican in Georgia who at the least implies the Earth is flat, but after claimed she’s not a Flat-Earther. Georgia GOP Chair Kandiss Taylor has a podcast with the immature name, “Jesus, Guns, and Babies.” And that is par for the course for the right. They are obsessed with conspiracy theories, out-of-touch policies, and just plain ignorance. Taylor goes all out with her belief, based on religious fanaticism, that the Earth is flat; reflecting the mentality of someone out of Medieval Europe. With two Flat Earthers on her podcast, David “Flat Earth Dave” Weiss and Matt Long, Taylor was quoted in Salon magazine by Tatyana Tandanpolie, which shows Taylor’s gross ignorance: “Th...

U.S. Opposition to U.S. Imperialism By David Starr “Poor and working people of America are sent to kill poor and working people of another country (Iraq) to MAKE THE RICH RICHER. And without racism, SOLDIERS would REALIZE they have MORE IN COMMON with the Iraqi people than they do with the BILLIONAIRES who send us off to war.” Mark Prysner, Army veteran and socialist political activist Supposedly, the words “imperialism” and “imperialist” are not in vogue since the dissolving of the Soviet Union. But due to the continuing attempts of the United States to maintain and expand the rule of capital, those two words are not consigned to the trash heap of history. The words are more important than ever to use nowadays given the fact that Democrats (with few exceptions) and Republicans are intoxicated with imperialism. And there is opposition to it worldwide. There is a history of rebellion and resistance to U.S. imperialism coming from U.S. citizens th...
