Overcoming the Sadistic and Cruel U.S. Embargo Against Cuba   By David Starr   Nowadays the United States is furthering its reputation as a morally bankrupt empire. Obvious proof of this is its maintaining the embargo that has caused hardship for Cuba. In an obsessed bout of insanity, U.S. politicians are adamant to continue imposing this 61-year Cold War relic without real justification.   According to those politicians, Cuba has a communist regime that has committed gross violations of human rights and wrecked the economy. While Cuba has had incidences of rights violations and inner inefficiencies, they pale in comparison to the horrendous effects of the embargo. Additionally, Cuba has had to cope with covert operations involving sabotage and attempted assassinations by the U.S.   Another aspect of this economic aggression is perhaps U.S. politicians have had an ego problem based on a superiority complex. Thus, to lift the embargo would, to them, be a sign o...
The Political Inquisition of Rashida Tlaib By David Starr   Another example of the United States, as an empire, fully supporting Israel in its attempted genocide against Palestinians was decided with the censuring of Rep. Rashida Tlaib. Tlaib, a Palestinian-American, had the courage to call out Israel for its militaristic debacle in Gaza, as well the West Bank, and was branded an “antisemite” by a majority in the House of Representatives; both Republicans and Democrats. The vote was 234 for censure and 192 against it.   The hypocrisy of the Republicans was especially outrageous, considering the inflammatory remarks made by those among them in regards to the latest actions in the Israel-Palestine conflict. They came across as fascists, or more directly put, the equivalent of Nazis. They portrayed Palestinians in an ugly manner. In the bottom line, these Republicans see the Palestinians as inferior, like some of the Israeli politicians do.    Before going into t...
United States’ Excuses for Israel’s War Crimes Are Inexcusable   By David Starr In the face of a horrible war between Israel and Hamas, civilians have paid the price, Israelis and especially Palestinians. Rather than support a logical and moral cessation of hostilities, the United States has been given Israel only a slap on the wrist for its attempted genocide, mainly in Gaza.     And, so, it went in late October when the United Nations struggled to approve the appropriate resolution coming from the Security Council. A resolution by Brazil that would condemn all violence against civilians, was vetoed by that “Beacon of Democracy.” The Brazil resolution had 12 votes for, two abstentions by Russia and Britain, and the veto by the U.S.   Russia proposed two amendments to the resolution: one which called for a “humanitarian ceasefire,” and the other condemning the heavy bombardment in Gaza, which took out hospitals and schools. But the proposals didn’t get enough ...
Op-Ed: Hardline Israeli Supporters Never Mention the Israeli Occupation and Settlements By David Starr The Israel-Palestine conflict has been a major tragedy for decades; and it still is. The political divide between the pro-Israel supporters and pro-Palestinian supporters has widened with the latest turmoil in the form of another war, this time between Israel and specifically Hamas.   The Oct. 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on Israel may have begun this latest tragedy, but the underlying causes have not, and are not, being addressed: the Israeli occupation and settlements. Ideally, it can be said that the Hamas attack was wrong which included the killing of innocent Israeli civilians, but Israel’s response was worse with more Palestinian deaths; and it continues with the heavy bombardment of Gaza. But in this situation, as with others, the root of occupation and settlements are ignored by hardline Israeli supporters.   There’s a hysteria about the hardline support for Israel....
Cornel West and Alan Dershowitz argue over the Israel-Palestine Conflict: Dershowitz Has a Hissy Fit By David Starr   In early October, Fox “news” had Cornel West and Alan Dershowitz on the  Hannity  show as guests. Both discussed the Israel-Palestine conflict, at least initially. As the conversation went on, West and Dershowitz began arguing about who is at fault in the conflict. Host Sean Hannity said to West,  according to Charlie Bash  in  Mediaite , that “You always call me brother Sean, and I call you brother Cornel. I’m not that happy with you tonight.” Hannity, like other Fox hosts, doesn’t like the policies of Left/Progressives.   With Hannity not pleased, West defended his stance. Nash quoted West: “545 Palestinians died in August 2004, not one American said a word. I believe a Palestinian baby has the same value as an Israeli baby.” West went on to add that all war crimes are wrong, and said, “…but you cannot simply look at this parti...
The Israel-Palestine Conflict: Over 100 years of bloodshed By David Starr   The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has reached a new level of violence with Hamas’s deadly incursion inside of Israel, while Israel retaliates with a more deadly assault on Gaza. The conflict is seeming to go on forever with the roots causes still not resolved: Israel’s occupation and its settlements. And for now, it doesn’t look like Israel will right these wrongs.   A report on Secular Talk  shows how insane  Israel’s policies are toward the Palestinians.   The Palestinian situation has been treated like it’s secondary to Israel’s dominance; or blatantly ignored. The West, especially the United States, has not really followed through on its “concern” for the Palestinian people. There are assurances but they really amount to nothing where the root cause is concerned. Writing for  Vox , Jonathan Guyer was  spot on  when he asserted, “It took Hamas’s deadly attack to r...
