Medea Benjamin Speaks Out By David Starr For years, Medea Benjamin has been on front lines of activism, championing various causes. And she is not stopping. The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians is particularly an issue Benjamin puts her full efforts into. Benjamin, of course, has her detractors. Those hardline Israeli supporters who have exhibited behavior that’s drenched in hysteria, lies, propaganda, threats, and all-around nastiness. While pro-Palestinian supporters have expressed their share of outrage, their reasons are quite different from that of the hardliners. The former are against Israel going way beyond self-defense to try and impose a “Greater Israel,” characterized by myths of religious supremacy, ultranationalism and racism. The Author

In 1986 while living in Hawai'i, I acknowledged my interests in political and social issues. I became active, joining such groups as the Latin American & Caribbean Solidarity Association (LACASA), Hawai'i Union of Socialists (HUS), and Ka Lehui Hawai'i (The Nation of Hawai'i). I also created "Voices of Change," a publication which came out during the 1990s, as well as getting published in the Honolulu Weekly and Toward Freedom. Now Connecticut-based, I've published articles and commentary in "Reader Supported News," "The Daily Kos" and have been published in the "LA Progressive" and "Covert Action Magazine."

StarrNarrative - Introduction

This blog is called "StarrNarrative" for the following reasons. 1) It's a play on words for my last name. 2) Narrative is another word for story, report and chronicle. As the sub head indicates, it's observations, commentary and news from a Left perspective. Since Left/Progressive sources hardly (if at all) get published in the corporate media, this blog is another source to bring out some inconvenient truths that are virtually absent from the media; truths which may be belittled or offend. It's to get the public exposed to alternative information, a necessary endeavor.
