Trump’s ICE Gestapo: The Real Terrorists

By David Starr

The Trump’s regime’s terrorism unfortunately continues, one way being the invasion and abducting of “undesirables” by its ICE Gestapo in various U.S. cities.

Saying that Trump is a madman is putting it mildly. There has been the mimicking of Nazi tactics and Trump is aware of this. After all, he’s the “dear leader” of his MAGA followers.

Status Coup had a segment on ICE’s barbarism in Chicago. And Meidas Touch also had a segment on the terrorism of ICE in various cities.

Similarities can be drawn with the words and behavior of the regime and its ICE thugs to 1930s Nazi Germany. There are certain differences, however, where the German Nazis took a very hard line with the result being 6 million dead by the Holocaust. ICE hasn’t reached that stage…yet anyway. Could it?

At this point, it goes without saying that the regime, and in turn, the Republican Party, cannot be trusted. Thus, it’s inexcusable, and frustrating, that corporate Democrats like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jefferies, although opposing Trump, want to use the same strategy that has failed more often than not: eventually caving to Republicans in the name of bi-partisanship. How can one compromise with an entity that won’t?

The ICE Gestapo has committed gross violations against both immigrants and U.S. citizens. ICE has gone after immigrant families and tearing them apart. It has also not been kind to journalists, and bystanders using their phones to record ICE brutality. Those recordings just may be used as evidence to prosecute and convict ICE members, eventually.

John Wojcik of the People’s World came out with a piece about ICE propaganda, calling it Nazi-like. He writes, “A painting depicting an angelic Lady Columbia wearing the star of empire on her head, protecting white settlers racing Westward in 19th century America as Native American Indians flee in fear. The message accompanying it: ‘A Heritage to be Proud of, a Homeland worth Defending.’”

Wojcik also mentions a propaganda poster, “Donald Trump giving a salute, with bold capital letters overlaid: ‘DEFEND THE HOMELAND – JOIN ICE TODAY.’”

Further, “Trump, among numerous other fascistic moves, has drastically increased the number of nationwide arrests of immigrants since he returned to office in January. ICE’s arrest of immigrants has gone up by more than 100% across the country, often with little attention paid to the actual legal status of those kidnapped from the streets.”

ICE’s cruelty is unacceptable, and inexcusable. But there is cause and effect. A time has to come when the members of the ICE Gestapo face a major backlash. Along with Trump and his fellow regime parasites.

ICE’s detention centers have been called concentration camps. According to Doug Most, writing for BU Today (Boston University), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) has said that the Trump regime is running concentration camps on the U.S.’s southern border.

BU’s Elie Wiesel Center director, Michael Zank, was interviewed by BU Today. He responded with his view, which was a reflection of AOC’s statement:

“We need better policies at the border, and we need to change U.S. policies that have led to the conditions in the countries these people are trying to escape. We need to take care of the roots of poverty and crime in the countries of origin that have led to this wave of migration in the first place.”

Zank hits the nail on the head. The poverty and crime in Global South countries is causing people to flee and immigrate to the “developed” nations. But white supremacists in the United States, for example, use the old scapegoating tactic to demonize immigrants. Thus, targeting those without corporate or institutional power while not prioritizing their anger where it belongs, the elites, like those in the Trump regime.

If there’s any time the word evil could be used accurately it is now. Trump, his regime, and the Republican Party are totally evil in trying to impose their particular agenda. An agenda symbolized by wanting to dwell in the past, to the old United States of the 1890s, rather than learn from the past in order to make things better in the present and the future.

The ICE Gestapo is an entity that has been contributing to imposing that agenda. Its cruelty is unforgivable. But keep in mind, however, cause and effect. There will be a backlash.
